Who we are
Susan (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC, #15510), a National Certified Counselor, and an Outpatient Psychotherapist in the Raleigh area available by telehealth. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Saint Louis University and her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of San Diego.
For the past ten years, Susan has worked with teens, adults, and older adults across a variety of community mental health settings, providing both group and individual therapy. Her clinical experience includes supporting clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment concerns, mood disorders, personality disorders, substance use, perinatal mood disorders, life transitions, and severe mental illness. She also holds specialized training from Postpartum Support International as a Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) clinician, offering dedicated care for women navigating the challenges of pregnancy and postpartum.
Susan’s therapy style is person-centered, strength-based, and non-judgmental, with compassion and humor woven into her approach. She believes therapy is most effective when clients feel truly seen, heard, and supported—while also being gently challenged to grow. Her work is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and person-centered therapy. She creates a safe space where clients can explore their experiences, learn to manage their thoughts and feelings, and build practices that bring resilience and change into daily life.
As an LGBTQ+ ally, Susan is committed to creating an affirming space where all identities are welcomed and respected. She also welcomes and supports neurodivergent clients, honoring diverse ways of thinking and experiencing the world.
Susan is passionate about helping clients move through difficult parts of their human experience, manage stress, and uncover strengths that lead to positive change and a more fulfilling life. She believes that the more we understand ourselves and our patterns, the more empowered we are to respond differently to challenges and create meaningful growth.
Outside the counseling room, Susan enjoys hot yoga, reading, and searching for the perfect cupcake. She looks forward to connecting and working with you.
